Partimage asks for nonexistant second file

Postby Jholton » Fri Jul 29, 2005 8:22 pm

I'm using partimage to image a Windows XP partition out to several identical machines. I've gotten it to mostly work with a couple of different images. The only problem is that with all of these images partimage will ask for a second image file when none exists.

My process is as follows...
1) Using SystemRescueCD & partimage, load up into linux and image a windows box I've pre-configured and sysprepped. (I've used gzip and bz2 formats, both with the same end result) The image file that is created is never larger than 900 megs. I use all the defaults.

2) Copy image file to the remote box that will be running partimaged.

3) Using Chas Tomlin's WIUL I prep another box to receive the image, load up WIUL's mini-linux and start partimage.

4) In partimage I set the drive to restore (without an MBR) myimagefile.000 from the partimaged server. Everything goes smoothly until at a seemingly random point partimage asks for the nonexistant myimagefile.001.

This always happens at the same percentage with the same initial image file. The last version of my image it kept happening at 93%. With the current version that I'm using it prompts at 57%. As I said, these image files are all under 900 meg, well below the point at which partimage should be making a second file. Any ideas?
