Cannot copy to temp

Postby mconzo » Mon Sep 06, 2004 11:22 pm

I am trying to create an image of an NTFS partition and burn it directly to a USB attached DVD writer, while booting to Knoppix 3.6 LiveCD. I can see the external drive fine. However, I am receiving an error stating that it cannot copy to temp.. after specifiying the destination of the image (dvd burner). I saw a post stating that the image MUST be saved to the hard drive 1st and then can be burnt to a cd/dvd. Is this 100% true? I do not have enough space to copy to a hard drive.

If this is true, do I have any other options to create an image of an NTFS partition while booting to LiveCD and on the fly burning to a dvd ?

Thank you in advance!

Thew actual error that I am receiving is as follows.

"Cannot create temp file

[/mnt/cdrom1/pi730f1879.tmp]

Please, check there is space enough and you have access rights."

Am I doing something wrong here? I suspect that this is caused by the fact that I am trying to burn the image directly to a DVD, rather than saving the image to the hard drive.

If anyone knows, please let me know.

Thanks..
